Equipment connected to Alternating Current (AC) networks can be subjected to a multitude of undesirable electrical phenomena which will disrupt their operation, cause failures, reduce their lifespan, or even destroy them.
The CITEL ranges of surge protector are designed to meet all the protection needs of Low Voltage installations against lightning and industrial surges. The products comply with IEC, UL and environmental standards. Ranges are classified by product Type and their power supply (AC or DC).
Type 1+2+3 AC surge protector
Type 1+2+3 SPD are heavy duty devices designed to be installed at the origin of the AC installations equipped with LPS (Lightning Protection System).
Type 1+2 AC surge protector
Type 1+2 SPD are heavy duty devices designed to be installed at the origin of the AC installation equipped with LPS.
Type 2 AC surge protector
Type 2 surge protectors are designed to be installed at the service entrance of low voltage systems or close to sensitive equipment to protect against transient overvoltages.
Type 2 (or 3) AC surge protector
Arresters tested and found Type 3 are intended to be installed near sensitive equipment, in coordination with Type 2 arrester installation head.

Surge protectors for photovoltaic installation

CITEL has designed a complete range of Type 1 and Type 2 surge protectors for PV applications that are compliant with the IEC 61643-31 (or EN 50539-11) test standard.
Type 1 PV surge protector
CITEL Type 1 SPDs for PV are designed to withstand up to 12.5 kA 10/350µs, incorporating CITEL’s exclusive and patented ‘VG techology’. CITEL offers two ranges for DIN rail mounting and one range for PCB mounting.
Type 2 PV surge protector
In most installations, the SPD will be necesary or obligatory an will be of Type 2. CITEL offers two ranges of Type 2 PV surge protectors with a pluggable module design et one range for PCB mounting.
